Toni Neary
Director of Community Engagement and Workforce Innovation

As the Director of Community Engagement and Workforce Innovation, I focus on pipeline development through diversity, equity, inclusion, and access , with a heavy focus on the early talent pipeline. My goal is to increase awareness and excitement among students about careers in manufacturing and engineering at all age levels.

With nearly 20 years in the field, I stumbled into my career in manufacturing education, but it ultimately ignited my passion for ourindustry. I have the privilege of witnessing innovative programs and projects from across the country and sharing these insights. It’s inspiring to be in a room where someone poses the question, “How do we?” and we can respond with successful examples from other regions.

What drives me is the desire to find solutions to the challenges industry has faced for decades. I believe every student deserves access to a relevant and engaging curriculum that prepares them for the real world and helps them unlock their true potential. I am committed to ensuring that both rural and urban schools across the United States have equal access to STEM & technology education.

At SME we are actively working to change the conversation around manufacturing. Our recruitment efforts span from “K through Gray.” What excites me most about my work is the opportunity to engage daily with amazing leaders in both education and industry. Hearing about the changes that are being implemented and the results they achieve is incredibly compelling. I truly believe that by uniting our efforts, we can close the skills gap and create opportunities for pathways in prosperity for all individuals.
